Marilynn M. Schmit

Marilynn M. Schmit, age 84 of St. Peter, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Benedictine Living Community.

Memorial service is 2:00pm Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Peter with visitation beginning at 12:30pm. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, St. Peter. Memorials are preferred. Condolences for the family can be left at www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com.

Marilynn Maxine was born August 4, 1934 in Fosston, MN to Selmer and Irene (Sundrud) Sorby. She was united in marriage to John Phillip Schmit on April 3, 1950 in Beaulieu, MN. They moved their family to St. Peter in 1965. Marilynn was employed as a nurse’s aid at the St. Peter Community Hospital until retiring in 1994. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting.

Left to remember Marilynn are her children: Dale (Susan) of St. Peter, Lois (Thomas) Schroeder of Nicollet, Lynn (Jerry) Ulvog of Cavalier ND, and Jodi (Michael) Corrow of Ft. Ripley; daughter-in-law Cindy Schmit of St. Peter; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters: Donna (Larry) Hinden and Janice Miller; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by:  husband John, daughter Joreen (Larry) Mettler, son Dwight Schmit, brother Ronald Sorby, brother-in-law Edward Miller and nephews: Tate Miller and Scott Hinden.
