Mary Henry

Mary E. Henry died on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at her home in St. Peter after several years of dealing with kidney disease and interstitial lung fibrosis. She was buried in a private service at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Peter on November 21, 2025. She was born on September 28, 1943 in Crawfordsville, IN to Mildred and Lewis Fellows and grew up on the family farm in Whitesville, IN. She graduated as Salutatorian in the New Market High School Class of 1961 and worked as a teller at First National Bank in Crawfordsville, IN until she was married to Dennis Henry on August 27, 1967 in the Wabash College Chapel . While Dennis was a graduate assistant in physics she worked in banking in Oregon and Indiana and as a secretary in the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. She continued her education at Purdue University, Highland Community College and Gustavus Adolphus College.

She and Dennis moved to St. Peter, MN in 1979 when Dennis joined the physics faculty at Gustavus Adolphus College. During the couple?s 1985-86 sabbatical in Menlo Park, CA she worked for Daisy Systems in Mountain View, CA. She later worked in the St. Peter offices of Delta Pi Epsilon Society for business educators and the Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu Association until her retirement in 2003. She also was employed at home in the model railroad kit business developed by Dennis, packaging all the retail products for sale in the U.S. and Canada and helping operate the company?s tables at hobby shows from 1982 through 2017. She was a member of Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Mankato where she served on the Library Committee and as a greeter. She greatly enjoyed working in her extensive flower garden adjacent the family home on South 7th St. She also enjoyed traveling, craft creations, word puzzles, volunteering, and staying in touch with family and friends, She set and cooked a fine table whenever hosting. She is survived by her husband Dennis, brothers-and-sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Lynn. She was beloved by all who knew her and is greatly missed.

 A public visitation will be 10:00am-12:00pm Thursday, December 11, 2025 at St. Peter Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the St. Peter Area Food Shelf or to donor's choice.
