Nancy Ann Roberts

Nancy Ann (Lea) Roberts, age 84 , St. Peter, died peacefully on March 19, 2019 surrounded by family after suffering for several years with dementia.  

Nancy was born October 29, 1934, in Minneapolis, MN, graduated from Southwest High School and Gustavus Adolphus College in 1956 where she met Don Roberts.  They married in 1957, spent two years at Camp Pendleton where Don was a Marine, and then settled in St. Peter where they were life partners and companions until he died in 2016.  In addition to being a constant presence behind Don’s many Gustavus hockey teams, she also taught pre-school for more than 20 years, leaving an impressive trail of alumnae who’s many lives she touched.  

Nancy was thoughtful and caring, always ready with a homemade treat or bowl of the famous caramel corn.  She was a beloved member of the Gustavus and St. Peter communities, and fiercely devoted to her family.  Together with Don, they spent wonderful time at the cabin they built where she enjoyed listening to the loons, riding in the boat and playing games with grandchildren.

Predeceased by parents, Esther and Richard Lea.  Survived by four children, Gregg (Cindy), Tim (Lori), Mike, and Susan (Craig) Wolfe; three grandchildren, Max, Hannah and Zachary; two step-grandchildren, Meredith and Casey; and eight grand-dogs.  Also survived by her brother, Stephen (Patricia) Lea of Hopkins, sister-in-law Donna Borstad  (Teudy) of Appleton and nieces, nephews and their families.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at First Lutheran Church, 1114 W Traverse  Road, St. Peter, MN 56082, with a visitation one hour prior at the church. Memorials preferred to Gustavus (Office of Advancement, 800 College Ave, St. Peter, MN 56082), or to P.A.W.S. (c/o Kind Veterinary Clinic, 109 Grace Street, St. Peter, MN, 56082).
