Rita Cecelia Hix

Rita Cecelia (Pfarr) Hix, age 86, of St. Peter passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3 p.m., on Friday, June 24, 2022, at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, with visitation two hours prior at the church as well. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Saint Peter Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. 

Rita was born on November 23, 1935 in Sibley County to Frank and Anna Pfarr. She married Pat Hix on November 23, 1957 at St. Annes Church, Le Sueur. Together they ran several small businesses. Rita was an avid volunteer, St. Peter School Board member, and active in the Catholic church and politics. She spent 10 years working at Minnesota State University, Mankato before retiring. She loved playing cards, and especially spending time with her family.

Rita is survived by her husband of 65 years, Pat Hix; children, Greg (Mary) Hix, Deanna (Pat) Steffensmeier, Cheryl Hix, Barbara (Jeff) Peters; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, LeRoy (Diane) Pfarr; and sister, Monica Bratsch, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Scott; parents, Frank and Anna Pfarr; grandchild, Kasey; brother, Jim Pfarr; sister, Mary Felmlee; brother-in-law, Ray Bratsch; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Pfarr.
