Robert Orville Strom, 65, of St. Peter passed away at his home on November 13th, 2024 with loved ones at his side. Bob was born on November 24th, 1958 to Orville and Sally Strom. He graduated high school at New Ulm Cathedral in 1977 and went to work for D&A Trucking.
With his long, curly hair, fast car and charm, he attracted the attention of Beckie Jerzak at Mowans and they were married on May 9th, 1981. After living in New Ulm and North Mankato, they settled in St. Peter with their son, Bobby. They owned Park Row Liquor and enjoyed running that business until the ‘98 tornado. After that he had a few jobs but settled in at SMC for 19 years until retirement.
Although a hard worker (and a bit of a stubborn, grump at times), Bob also enjoyed the simple things life could offer. Canning, making jams, pickling and grilling to name a few. He rarely missed an episode of The Price is Right, loved cooking shows and watching Storage Wars. Outside, you could catch him tending to his raised gardens or heading to the Red Men Club. He enjoyed having some beer or a pop and catch up on the gossip. He was a member there and was part of the St. Peter Ambassadors in the past.
He could be a man of few words but could be a talker on the right topics and throw some zingers at you. Unless you were his grandkids. They could do no wrong. It wasn't unusual to find Grandpa and one of the 3 kiddos napping in his recliner. He loved filling them up with snacks, unlimited candy and never telling them no. Even as his health took a turn, he made it to countless soccer games and always had a hug at the ready.
Left to remember Bob are his wife, Beckie, his son Bobby (Dani), grandchildren, Dominick, Dylan and Wiley, his brother, Jack (Mary Kay), sister in laws Pat (Dave), Linda, Debbie (Dawayne), and Sandy (Al), nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Meeting him in heaven are his parents, Beckie's parents, nephew Johnny and brother in law John.
There will be a private funeral service for family followed by a celebration of life at the Red Men Club on November 21st, 2024 beginning with Red Men Honors outside at 4pm, for all who knew Bob. Please come and share a memory….and a beer.
Special thanks to St.Croix Hospice and their amazing staff.
