Ronald D. Smith

February 11, 1950 - August 14, 2026

Ronald Douglas Smith, age 76, a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 14, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Ron was born on February 11, 1950, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Ronald and Caroline Smith. He worked for many years as an independent insurance agent before beginning a second career as a chemical dependency counselor.

A talented tennis player, Ron was known for his wicked slice. He was also a loyal Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. He loved spending time at the lake cabin, playing golf, tending to his yard, exploring the countryside on long drives, and wintering in Florida. Above all, Ron cherished time with his family, friends, and pets.

Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Roselee Smith; his son Matt (Tati) Smith; his son Andy (Xiaoying) Smith; his grandchildren, Eleanor, Marlowe, Metta, and Joanna Smith; his sisters, Chris Hult, Sara Beske and Jane Barajas; his brother, Brad Smith; and his dear friends, John and Linda Givan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Caroline Smith, and his brother, Jeff Smith.

A memorial service followed by a reception will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at: Saint Peter Community Center Community Room 219 600 S. 5th Street St. Peter, MN 56082
