Rush Victor Lind, 76, of St. Peter, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Church of St. Peter. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Peter with military honors provided by the St. Peter Legion Honor Guard. Celebration of Life to follow from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Flame Bar and Grill, St. Peter. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Rush Victor Lind was born May 04, 1947 in Boone, IA, son of Harley and June Lind. His family moved to St. Peter, MN in late 1947. Rush graduated from St. Peter High School in 1965 as the class valedictorian and graduated from Mankato State University with a BS in History and Sociology. He served in the Army Reserves for 6 years and was honorably discharged as a corporal. He married Diane Karna (Dvorak) Arnet on April 9, 1979 and were married 28 years until Diane’s passing in 2007. Rush was a dedicated and loving husband, stepfather to his children, Charlie, Karna and Alex Arnet and to his 7 grandchildren.
Rush spent the first part of his career as a foreman for Geldner Construction. He then spent 23 years with the City of St. Peter Construction Maintenance department where he enjoyed keeping the streets of city of St. Peter safe and he always enjoyed plowing snow. He was a Corvette enthusiast and enjoyed restoring old Chevy’s. He also enjoyed restoring old Tonka trucks and over the years refurbished almost 500 trucks. In addition, he was a meticulous craftsman building furniture and restoring antiques. He loved history, reading novels, classic car shows and spending winters at his place in Mesa, AZ. As a proud veteran, he was a member of the American Legion where he was also a member the Honor Guard and Vietnam Era Last Man Standing Club. He attended church at the Catholic Church of St. Peter. He enjoyed playing cards especially cribbage, sports and was a long suffering fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.
Rush is survived by his three children, Charlie Arnet and wife Lisa and their 4 daughters of St. Paul, Karna Arnet of Houston, TX, and Alex Arnet of Nashville, TN and his three sons; his sister, Barbara (Lind) McMahon and husband Larry and their 2 children; 7 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Rush was preceded in death by his wife, Diane; and his parents, Harley and June Lind.
